Our Halloween Weekend

Halloween was so much fun this year. Adalyn really enjoyed all of the hoopla of the holiday. We were able to spread out the celebration throughout a few days, which made it much more fun and easier for our 18 month old to deal with!

Pre- Halloween
Adalyn has loved seeing all the pumpkins everywhere. This is a cute one that she got from Grandma Wayment and has loved playing with it.

Trunk or Treat
Our ward Trunk or Treat was held on Thursday and Adalyn thought the whole thing was hilarious! She loved seeing all of the kids dressed up, and loved even more that people were giving her candy to put in her pumpkin basket. It was great seeing how much she enjoyed it.

Our Little Ladybug loves to fly! (If you listen closely you can hear her counting for Devin to start)

Ebay Party
Devin's work had a little party on Friday and Addie loved going from desk to desk to see what she would get next!

Happy Halloween
On Halloween day Adalyn got to spend time with her cousins Natalee and Carson (Carson gave her quite the scare!) over at Grandma and Grandpa Payne's.

That night she got to play and trick or treat with her cousin Kayson and Grandma and Grandpa Wayment.

We had a great Halloween and I look forward to more fun with the coming holidays!

Fall Fun!

For some reason, the past couple of months have felt like they have come and gone in a whirlwind. We have been busy with many different things and have really enjoyed the fall season. I really apologize for making such a long post but needed to get all of it in for my own sake when I try to remember down the road!

Petting Zoo

Adalyn love, love, loves the petting zoo. She was so happy playing with all the goats and sheep.

Adalyn riding Sweet Pea. She loved the horses the most and was thrilled that she got to ride one.

Cornbelly's

This year Cornbelly's at Thanksgiving Point was so much fun! They had tons of stuff for Adalyn to do and we had a great time.

The Bounce Pillows

He should have been a Cowboy!

Addie loved crawling in and out of the wooden trains

Tractor ride in Cow Carts

Adalyn would have been happy just hiding in the car!

Kiddie Corn Maze

3-D Fun House (aren't the glasses awesome!)

First Official Hair Cut

Addie's hair has been growing like crazy lately, so we finally decided that it was time to shape it up a bit. My best friend, Jessica, willingly took on the task and did a wonderful job with her!

Gardener Village

Gardener Village was decorated so well. Adalyn loved all the pumpkins and witches that they had set up. It was fun night, and Addie could have stayed their forever.

Nursery

Yes, it's true. Our little one is already old enough to be in nursery. Her first 'official' day was this last Sunday (Oct. 25), and much to the chagrin of her daddy, stayed in there by herself. She did a great job and really enjoys being in there.

Doesn't she look thrilled?

17 Months

Today our little princess is 17 months old. She is quite the remarkable little lady and has made life such a joy for us. Some of her most recent doings, likes, and dislikes are:

-Adalyn loves talking. She will repeat anything and everything that we say, that she hears on TV or the radio, or that she hears other kids say. She also learns the context of words really quickly and knows how to get what she wants. The phrase she uses the most (and makes it hard to say no to) is "Peas help." Anytime she wants something or needs help getting/doing something that is what she says. Imagine what a difficult decision it is for me when she is asking for something she can't or shouldn't have!

-Her favorite TV show is The Backyardigans. She knows which remotes we use to turn the show on, and she will grab them and say "Back-gone-a Show." A recent favorite of hers is "Horton Hears a Who." She has gotten really good at saying "elephant" by watching that show and she constantly repeats it throughout the show (throwing in monkey and birdie here and there).

-Adalyn loves giving hugs... and I have to admit that I don't hate this new love of hers. She will just randomly say "hug" and then throw her arms around your neck. She gives the BEST hugs ever and I will drop everything if it means getting one of them!

-Addie loves to be outside, playing in dirt, finding rocks and bugs, and swinging.

-When she's tired, Adalyn still has the habit of putting her fingers in our mouths. She has done this since she was just a little baby (4 or 5 months). We thought she would have grown out of it by now but it's a continued comfort for her.

-We have set up Addie's 'Big Girl' room in preparation for moving her to a regular bed. She loves her bed (although it hasn't been used for sleeping yet) but she enjoys playing on it and even just sitting and laying on it. I am excited to officially put her in her new room.

-Some of Addie's favorite snacks are Goldfish, yogurt covered raisins, cheetos, and all kinds of juices. Some of her favorite foods are chicken, corn, yogurt, bananas, noodles, anything with spice, and mac and cheese. Some of her dislikes are most vegetables, ravioli, and lunch meats.

-Adalyn loves our shoes. She pulls them out of the basket, puts them on, and walks around in them. She also likes putting our sweatshirts on and walking around the house in them.

-Addie will make a great big sister. Although she gets somewhat jealous, she has always been fascinated by babies and really loves them. She is great with other kids, especially at sharing, and we are excited for her to have a little one around to play with. Recently she is becoming less jealous and even more loving towards babies. We went out with our friends Christopher and Lauren and their 5 month old, Macintosh, and as we were saying good-bye we told Addie to give Mac kisses...

What a sweetie!

Our sweet girl is getting so big and we have really enjoyed every minute of watching her grow. We couldn't have asked for a sweeter daughter.

Baby Bump

Due to the urgings of my out of town sister-in-law, I decided to post a picture to show off my protruding belly. I am now 18 weeks pregnant and feel as though I started showing with this baby a lot sooner than I showed with Adalyn. So far this pregnancy has been a little more difficult than the first, but I think I am finally over the worst. We will find out the gender in a week and a half and we are looking forward to it.

So, here you go Sara! I expect to see a picture of your Baby bump (as soon as it shows)!

A Day At the Zoo!

Today, we took Adalyn to the zoo for the first time. It was such a fun day. Addie's face lit up seeing all the animals and she growled and made monkey noises the whole time.

Here are Devin and Adalyn in front of the 'Phants' as Addie calls them.

We even got a glimpse of the new baby 'phant'. So Cute!

With the giraffes. At this point Addie was really wanting to pet the animals...

...so we let her! Okay, so I don't think she actually touched the giraffe but when she reached out she got really close! She loved it!

Due to her monkey noises all day we picked the gorilla for the carousel ride. She loved it.

I am so glad we were finally able to take Addie to the zoo. She loved it, and seeing her smile so much just warmed my heart.

Labor Day Cabin Fun!

Adalyn and I had a chance to get away up to my parents' cabin for the weekend (well most of it anyways). After all the craziness of moving it was a much-needed and welcomed break. Adalyn couldn't have been happier and I loved watching her play with her cousin in the dirt and trees.

Cute kiddos holding hands on the drive up to the cabin.

Loving the bushes...

...and the dirt!

4-Wheeling with Grandpa (I know, she looks like she hates it, but she didn't start crying til she saw me!)

Adalyn has amazed us lately with how much she has been talking. She loves saying new words and learns something everyday. Due to our lack of a camera, we haven't been able to capture any of it. Here are some videos that I was able to get this weekend.

Adalyn has been saying Kayson for a little while now, but she overheard me call him 'Buddy' one time and for the rest of the weekend she said "Buddy" every time she saw him.

Unfortunately, our weekend was cut short when I got really sick. I was so sad to take Adalyn away from her dirt-filled fun but didn't have the strength to stay. Once we got home, it was Devin to the rescue. He took care of both of us, allowing me to recover, and Addie to continue her weekend fun. Here is one last video we took this weekend when Addie decided she wanted to drink from a water bottle by herself.

Thanks Mom and Dad for a great time at the cabin! Adalyn loved it, and we look forward to many more years of dirt, campfires, and 4-wheelers (hopefully without the same ending that we had this weekend!)

Saying Goodbye

This will be the last post I will make in our first home...

I haven't been feeling any remorse or sadness about this move, but as I begin to realize that Moving Day is sneaking up on us a little quicker than we expected, I start to ponder about what this house has meant for us. This was mine and Devin's first MAJOR purchase. All the hassle of house hunting to finally find a place that fit us just right. This is where we have watched our sweet Adalyn grow from a tiny baby to a little girl. This is the only home she has ever known (and she knows every square inch of it). This is the place that Addie has learned to call home. This is where we grew our first garden (successfully). This is where Addie's first, Devin's 26th,
and my 25th and 26th birthdays were celebrated. This is where we have grown as a family in love for the past year and a half. And now we are leaving it behind... (tear).

We have loved it here, but we are also really excited for the journey and experiences that lie ahead of us. So, Goodbye First Home!
