Funny Girls

This post is random pictures and videos of the funny things that our girls have been doing lately. The first video is our favorite... Devin is talking to Quincy while I record. Adalyn is trying to get in on some of the attention but none of her attempts are working(you can see her feet running in and out of the video)...

(We have no idea where she picked up Devin's name. She has only ever called him Daddy and we rarely use our full names.) We also think this video is funny because Devin is talking to Quincy in an "evil tone" and she just thinks it's so funny.

Both girls laying on our bed watching The Princess and the Frog (Addie's new favorite movie). I think that they look so much alike in this picture!

We went to the zoo with some friends and Adalyn and her friend Lily wanted to hold hands and walk around. It was so cute!

Quincy has become quite the thumb sucker. She has her hands in her mouth every second she can manage.

We recently pulled the bumbo out of storage to give Quincy some 'sitting' time. Of course once she saw that it was for Quincy, Addie had to have a turn as well. She is sitting here listening to her MP3... she is so with it!

So You Think You Can Dance?

Yes we do! Devin, Adalyn, and I are ready for tryouts!

(I can't count the number of times Adalyn wanted to 'take turns'!)

Meanwhile, Quincy can 'kiss up' to the judges for us!

Mother's Day InstaCare Visit

I had a wonderful Mother's Day, thanks to my amazing husband. Breakfast in bed, my favorite treats, and day of relaxing. Unfortunately this Mother's Day also came with one of the biggest trials of being a Mother... my heart breaking at the sight of my daughter in pain. Nothing is more difficult than watching your child hurting and not being able to do much for them. While playing with a cousin, Adalyn fell off of a couch and hit her head on an ottoman. Devin ran to comfort her and we immediately became concerned when we noticed that she was suddenly acting very sleepy. Shortly after we realized that her head was bleeding and then decided that we needed to take her in to the Instacare. While we were waiting, Addie began to perk up and we began to feel better. She got a few staples placed in her head and was so great during the whole process. All part of being a Mother... and all the more reason to celebrate our mothers!

Mother's Day

This post is specifically directed to all the wonderful Mother's in my life. I have said before that it takes becoming a mother to truly appreciate your own mother. I never completely understood how much love a mother can hold in her heart, how much work it takes to be a mother, and how much sacrifice a mother willingly endures for her children. A mother's work is the hardest and yet the most rewarding work there is. I can't express the gratitude in my heart for my mother... you have always been a thoughtful, caring, and hard working person and I couldn't have asked for a better mother. To my second mother (in law)... you are one of a kind and I am so blessed to know you and am indebted to you for raising such an amazing man. To my sisters (on both sides)... you are all such amazing mothers and I am so grateful for your examples. And to all mothers... It is such an incredible work that you all do everyday. It will never be easy but it will always be worth it. I love you all very much.
I am so grateful for the opportunity of being a mother and a wife. I have the most wonderful husband and daughters that a girl could ask for. My cup runneth over.

Zoo Day

Yesterday was Quincy's first trip to the zoo. It was so much fun. Adalyn had a great time running around with her friend Jonas, and although Quincy slept through most of it, the time that she was awake she loved just being outside. We really look forward to many more zoo days throughout the summer.

Adalyn: 2 Years Old

It's weird to actually say that we have a 2 year old. Most people cringe when we tell them Adalyn is 2, and yes she has her 'terrible two' moments, but for the most part she is such a sweet girl. She had her 2 year check up the other day and her stats are as follows: Height- 33 in. (30%), Weight- 24.6 lbs (20%), Head-(75%). Here are some things about her lately:

  • Adalyn knows her letters, counts to 10, knows most of her colors and shapes, and can recite the majority of her books.
  • Adalyn's favorite show is Dora the Explorer and you will very often hear her say the following: "Oh no, Boots!" "Swiper, No Swiping!" and "Ohh, Man!"
  • She loves reading books and currently her favorite is Tiger Can't Sleep. The phrase from the book that we love hearing her say is "Oops, Tiger is sorry."
  • Addie is such a great big sister. She loves Quincy and really loves talking to her, kissing her, soothing her when she's crying, and laying next to her.
  • She loves Devin's iTouch and knows how to work it better than I do. She calls it a phone and as soon as Devin comes home she runs to him and says "Please, phone, daddy."
  • Adalyn is such a big help. She loves to help me with the laundry, dishes, picking up toys, and handing me things (like burp rags) when I'm feeding Quincy.
  • Addie has suddenly developed a fear of anything that moves (especially bugs). We are trying to teach her that bugs are nice or you can stomp them and they go away. The stomping is catching on better than thinking they are our friends.
  • She loves dancing, painting, running, undressing herself, playing with stickers, swings at the park, playing with other kids, singing, coloring, and jumping.
  • Adalyn use to put her fingers in our mouths as a comfort (she still does that occasionally to me). Now, she likes to put her feet anywhere on Devin and I that she can get them.
  • She is a bit obsessive... things have to be a certain way or she is not happy. Example: She has a hard time falling asleep if her blankets aren't just right. Also she constantly asks for wipes to clean her hands/face even when she is already clean. Some obsessions are easier to break than others.
  • Adalyn loves playing with the hampers and even tries to be sneaky about pulling the clothes out of them. She could sit in them all day if I let her.

Adalyn is such a funny girl who makes us laugh all the time. She learns very quickly and is such a sweet mannered little thing. She brings so much joy into our home and we love her so much!
