June meant hotter temperatures, no school, and no routines. We were so ready for the summer and started taking advantage of it right away. Here's what our June looked like:
Quincy and her BFF McKinley finished up their sand volleyball clinic. They had so much fun and I loved watching her improve in something she loves.
Swim days are a must during this time and we took full advantage of the local pools...
We had a quick visit from our favorite, Nina...
Devin loves to look up random places to discover, and sometimes just drive until we find somewhere to explore. This particular place was called Old Irontown and was built in the early 1800's as a place to mine and heat iron. Unfortunately it wasn't sustainable and the town was deserted. There are still a few things that have survived and it was fun to explore them.
Then we headed into Cedar City to see the Pioneer Museum which also fun to explore...
Our neighborhood started an activity group to get the kids together once a week. We couldn't always make it but when we did the kids had a blast. Here they are at Thunder Junction Park...
Took Addie and Coco to The Grip to cure some boredom one afternoon...
While the other 2 were swimming and getting ice cream with friends...
Sometimes Devin and I sneak away and explore on our own. It wasn't open but we walked around outside of the Brigham Young Winter Home.
We had an awesome visit from our friends from California, The Stokers. We were able to show them our house and then went to have dinner and swim with them. We love this family and always enjoy the time we have with them.
Then the 3 older girls and I got to see show number 2 at the Tuacahn, Beauty and the Beast. It was so much fun and such a great show. Love any time I get with these little ladies.
Intermission be like...
We were so happy to hear that our nephew Carson was coming home from his mission. We wanted to be there to support him at his homecoming so we decided to do a quick overnighter in Salt Lake. On the way we stopped to take a tour of Cove Fort...
And we got to spend the night at Grandma and Grandpa Payne's...

Unfortunately that was the beginning of one of the scariest times of our lives. At 3am Coco woke up with croup and struggling to breathe. It wasn't quite bad enough to head to the ER so I took her outside to breathe in the cold air. It was helping so I then put her in the car, rolled the windows down, and drove her around until 7 am. She didn't get any better but she also didn't get any worse. We were able to make it to the homecoming but she continued to struggle throughout the day (which isn't typical for croup). As we began our drive home, she really started to struggle. We tried another "home remedy" of Mt. Dew and it seemed to do the trick on and off for the entire drive home. However, by the time we got to Toquerville she couldn't get a breath in. She began to arch in her seat to open up her airways more. I quickly jumped to the back to pull her out of her carseat and told Devin to go straight to the hospital. Although it was only 10 minutes away it felt like the longest drive of my life. She became limp and even peed all over my lap. I had the girls grab clothes from our suitcases to hurry and change before going into the hospital. We ran in and the nurses immediately took her back to start breathing treatments. The doctor said she was pale and listless, put an IV in immediately, and her room was swarming with nurses and doctors. Up until that point I had handled everything with a calmness that I couldn't explain if I tried. But now, here in the hospital, seeing my baby lifeless with everyone else in a panic, my body began to shake uncontrollably. Knowing that we would be there for a few hours at the very least, Devin took the other girls home. They were each texting me every few minutes to get updates on how Coco was doing. But after several breathing and steroid treatments she still wasn't improving so they told us they were going to admit us for the night. After 3 days, more treatments than I can count, and several conversations with the pediatrician it was determined that she has Atypical Croup and there is possibly an outside factor, such as allergies, that is causing it or making it get as bad as it does. So we were sent home and told to start working with a pediatrician and an ENT to determine the cause. During our 3 day stay, we had the best nurses and pediatricians possible. They brought her toys and movies, made her as comfortable as possible, and did what they could to make her smile. I couldn't appreciate them more. And of course I couldn't be more grateful to our Heavenly Father who watched over and protected our baby girl and gave us the strength to get through this difficult time.

This is what we came home to. The girls are the sweetest ever...
Soon after, Addie headed off to Girl's Camp. She was so excited and had the absolute best time!
Silly girls...
When it's hot and you can't get to the pool, you make your own out of a cooler...
After a week of sleeping in the same room because she still needed breathing treatments off and on, meeting with doctors, getting a swab down her nose and throat, and getting more bloodwork done it was so good to see her become more herself...
June brought both wonderful memories and unimaginable trials with it. I am grateful for both.
