As August came in, I started feeling well enough to get moving again. And with school coming fast we decided to get as much in as we possibly could.
First, we hit up our favorite mountain picnic spot with our favorite friends. We literally could spend the entire day here and no one gets bored.
We pulled out this bouncer for her for the first time and she loved it!
Devin had the opportunity to join the youth of the ward at Youth Conference. They did a session at the temple, hiked through the narrows, and enjoyed some spiritual firesides.
I decided that it was high time for some 1 on 1 time with the girls. Naturally, Addie chose Lagoon for her date and it was a blast hanging out with her.
Blackridge Pond is always a favorite for us in the summer. We had to get one last trip in before summer was over...
Next it was Quincy's turn for a date. She also chose to go to Lagoon and it has been fun watching her become so much more brave this year. She was also really interested in seeing Pioneer Village and the cabin that one of my ancestors built.
Colette turned 6 months this month and its crazy to think that half a year has gone by. This month she started sitting up on her own and started eating baby food. She found her toes and loves to suck on them. She figured out how to roll over in her crib and she loves sticking her hands in my mouth when she's falling asleep. She still struggles letting other people hold her, especially when mom is in view. She prefers to be held all the time, and rarely likes to be put down. She also started rolling all around and babbling a ton.
I attempted to take the girls hiking up Stewart Falls, but poor planning on my part and lack of enthusiasm from the girls meant that we couldn't quite make it all the way to the waterfall. But it was beautiful and good for the soul nonetheless.
Hit up the Museum of Curiosity one day...
Spent another day at the Thanksgiving Point Farm...
Over one of the weekends we took the girls up to Cascade Springs, a beautiful natural spring up American Fork Canyon. We managed to make it around to Heber where we stopped at the Dairy Keen, and then full circle ended up at Bridal Veil Falls. It was fun to have Addie's friend Kembree with us... everyone thought we had 5 girls.
When it came time for Tess' date she decided that she would rather go with Dad... to Lagoon of course!
Coco started making this Grandpa face and it makes us laugh every time.
Had a chance to spend the day with Payne cousins up in Logan...
And then on the way home we stopped to meet our newest Wayment cousin, Maylie. She is so cute and I have already forgotten how little they are when they are born.
Sometimes our swim days get delayed because of poor behavior. A quick chore to make things right and we were back on track for a fun day at the pool.
Back to School Night...
Lagoon + Cousins = a whole lot of fun!
Over another weekend we decided to do a park tour and took the kids to several parks that they had never been to before. It was a fun day!
And just like that school was was starting again. The girls were excited and ready for the new school year to begin. We love celebrating the start of school with a Back 2 School Night. We have a special dinner, the girls get notes of encouragement with treats, and then Father's blessings. These blessings are so special and I loving hearing how well Heavenly Father knows each of my children.
And then they were off starting 5th and 3rd Grade...
Tess was pretty sad that her sisters suddenly weren't around all day. But taking your BFF to the Museum sure makes up for it!
Because of babies/pregnancies we weren't able to take our annual Girl's Trip this year. We had to make up for it with a quick overnighter to Park City. And of course the Leopard Leggings made an appearance! Love spending time with these women!
Meanwhile, at home...
We have been blessed with wonderful Ministering Brothers, who invited us over to "shop" from their amazing garden. The Foxes are such a great family and we have been blessed to know them.
One more trip to the farm before Preschool started for Tess.
Telling stories. She speaks with such resolve, I almost believe what she is saying!
And August was over just like that! With the older kids back in school we are figuring out how to manage our time between a baby and a toddler.
