Colorado Trip

We had the chance to take a quick trip to visit some family in Colorado. It was such a great trip... and it was so fun spending time with Gavin, Becky, Eleanor, and Katie.

While in Colorado, we went to Anderson Farms... our first pumpkin patch of the season.

We also went to Pearl Street Marketplace...

And the plane ride home. I wish I could say that it was this calm the whole time but unfortunately I can't.

We were also able to get some family photos taken thanks to our amazingly talented and generous sister-in-law which we will post later. It was such a wonderful trip! Thank you Gavin, Becky, Eleanor, and Katie for being such WONDERFUL hosts! We love you all!

Wayment Reunion

The annual Labor Day/Wayment/Cabin reunion came and went all too quickly. It was such a fun weekend and the girls absolutely loved it. From the rides on the 4-wheelers, to playing in the dirt, to the horny toads and lizards it was like a wonderland to them.

On the first day we went to a National Reserve called City of the Rocks. The kids had so much

fun climbing up and down all of the rocks...

Afterwards we found a little country store and Grandma and Grandpa treated everyone to an icecream!

It was such a fun trip and I know it will be one that the girls look forward to in the future. Thanks Mom and Dad for all you did to make it great!

18 Months

On the 3rd of this month Quincy turned 18 months. How did we get here?!? Aside from our excitement on Sundays that she has reached the nursery age, I am always a bit saddened at the thought that my babies keep getting older. Quincy (the once mellow, go with the flow baby) has surprised us as she has developed into the spunky, I will get what I want any way that I have to, toddler. Here are some things that we want to remember about Quincy at this age:

• Currently her stats are Weight: 23lbs. 9oz. (40%) Height: 33 in. (85%) Head: 19.5in. (97%)


• She is the biggest sweetheart with a bit of a "bully" side to her. Seriously, she will go and take another kid's toy just because she can. But as soon as we say "Quincy be nice!" or "Can you give that back please!" She will give the toy back and give them a little pat on the cheek or head to say sorry.
  
  
• She will not do anything that she doesn't want to... luckily most of the time she wants to do the things we want her to (clean up, brush teeth, eat, or be nice.)
  
  
• The only fruit I can get Quincy to eat right now is freeze dried fruit. I am guessing that she doesn't like the texture of regular fruit because she doesn't even chew it up before she spits it right back out.
  


• She is still a thumb sucker, and has recently become very attached to one blanket. She used to love playing with my hair as a baby and this blanket has little strands all around the edges. She would take it everywhere if we would let her.(right now we try to limit it to the crib)
  
  
• Quincy wants to (and thinks she can) do everything that big sister does. She has plenty of scrapes and bruises to show for it too! While I love that she wants to try new things, I can't tell you how many times my heart has stopped because of her!

• She loves, loves, loves animals. She knows all of her animal sounds and gets so excited when she sees them whether they are in a picture, on TV, or right in front of her.

• Quincy is very protective of her Mommy... if anyone is touching me in a way that she thinks is hurting me she will start to freak out.


• She loves babies right now. Dolls, real babies, pictures... all of it! She even loves the Justin Bieber "Baby, Baby, Baby, Ohh" song and sings it all the time!
  


• Quincy and Adalyn have a Love/Hate relationship. When they love each other it is so much fun. They laugh and play with each other, dance and sing songs together, dress up as princesses and chase each other all over. But boy, do they know how to push each others' buttons... and they do it all. the. time! From screaming wars to hitting wars, taking toys to getting in each others' faces.

• Quincy seems to have a strange connection with certain people... mind you, not always people that she knows even. She will gravitate to these people, ask to be held ("Up!"), lay her head on their shoulder, and then refuse to leave them. Do not ask me how she makes these "connections" with people, she simply picks whom she sees fit. Currently, our 76 year old neighbor, Ralph, is one of her absolute favorites!
  
  
• Up to this point her vocabulary consists of: shoes, socks, hat, baby, back pack, please, up, out, more, outside, down, Ralph, coke, milk, Addie (she pronounces it I-E), no no, books, nice, night-night, grandma, grandpa, ball, most of the animals, and more.
  
  
• Quincy gets really excited when Devin comes home. She just has to hear the door and she starts screaming and saying "Dada, Dada!" as she runs towards it.

• She loves to have her feet rubbed. If she is tired or fussy, she will stick her feet out to me to let me know she wants them rubbed. As soon as I start, she calms right down.


• Q has such a funny personality. She is always making us laugh... and she loves making people laugh!

• She is also very independent. Especially when it comes to eating. Again, I think it stems from wanting to do what she sees Addie doing.

We absolutely love our 18 month old ball of fun. She is full of energy and keeps us all on our toes. Her smile brightens up every room and every mood. She is really our angel and we are so blessed that she is a part of our family.

I Heart BOSTON!

Devin and I were so lucky to be able to go on a vacation together this last week... and we were even more lucky that we chose Boston! I fell in love with this city almost the moment we got there (the airport was a little maddening). Boston is A-Mazing! It's as deep in it's history as it is diverse in culture. We found the best of everything in Boston...Ocean, Big city, Small Town, some of the Oldest Buildings surrounded by new buildings, Trees everywhere, and the best food you can imagine. Seriously... Boston has it all! Devin found a company that does temporary rentals of their apartments, and I am so glad that he did. We basically lived like Bostonians and in the oldest neighborhood in the U.S.(literally). Our apartment was unbelievably small, however it was located in the North End which made it absolutely perfect!

But this is the North End Neighborhood that it was in... can you see why I think it's perfect? (Look below the Skyscrapers... see those really old brown stone buildings? That's it.)

This was our street... enough room for 1 car to fit through.(We were so glad that we didn't rent a car!)

This is more of the neighborhood and is known as Lil Italy. There were countless Italian restaurants and people yelling in Italian. We ate some of the best Italian food here. It was awesome!

Now, from this point on I am going to do a play by play for our own records so If you want to stop here we will understand! This is seriously the longest post ever!

We got in on Sunday afternoon and Devin's wonderful brother and sister-in-law drove up from Connecticut with their 3 kids to pick us up. Thanks again Ryan and Sara... you guys are awesome and we loved seeing you all! We walked around Boston, found a park for the kiddos, and ate pizza. It was a great start to the week.

On Monday we took a trolley around the city and stopped for a tour of Fenway Park. Fenway is the oldest ballpark in America. Next year marks their 100th year!

After the tour at Fenway we walked through Cambridge to the Harvard Campus. It was beautiful! Then we came back to Boston and took our first Harbor Cruise...

On Tuesday we started off the day by going Whale Watching. We saw about 10 whales. The video below is of a Mama Whale and her baby...

Afterwards we ate lunch at Cheers...

Then we walked around Boston Commons (which happens to be the oldest park in the U.S.)...

From there, we took a tour of the Freedom Trail...

Old State House. This is where they read the Declaration of Independence for the first time...

On Wednesday we took a bus tour up the coastline to Maine. Absolutely gorgeous!

The first stop was Hampton Beach, New Hampshire...

Our second stop was York, Maine...

Our final stop was Kennebunkport, Maine...

It was here that we experienced the BEST lobster ever! Take a look at this guy...

Then we ended the night with a movie at the Aquarium's IMAX theater...

On Thursday we started of the day by touring the Old North Church (where the lanterns were hung for Paul Revere)...

As well as Paul Revere's House...

Then we went through the New England Aquarium...

For lunch we decided to take a Luncheon Cruise of the Harbor...

Then we walked over to Charlestown to tour the USS Constitution (Old Ironsides)...

And the USS Cassin Young (WWII Destroyer)...

Then to the Bunker Hill Monument which is actually on Breed's Hill...

On Friday we took a ferry over to Salem where we went to the Salem Witch Museum...

Rode around on EZ Pedaler Bikes...

And toured the House of the Seven Gables...

Most of our evenings were spent down at Quincy Market...

This was honestly the perfect trip. If our hearts weren't already in Utah with our two girls, we would have left them in Boston! We are already planning our next trip out there! We can't thank our parents enough for watching our girls so that we could take this trip! We appreciate you more than we can say! (Now I just have to re-train my girls on the meaning of "No!") We are so grateful to have parents who are such amazing Grandparents! We love you!
