Today marks Addie's 3 1/2 year birthday. It's hard to believe that in 6 more months we will have a 4 year old! I thought I would post a few things that I want to remember about Adalyn's 3rd year of life...
- Adalyn loves to dance. She especially loves to play the part of the princess and asks Devin, Quincy, or I to be the prince and dance with her.
- She also loves to sing. She sings all day long and remembers almost every song she hears. Her current favorite singer is Justin Bieber (it already begins!) and she is constantly singing Baby, Baby, Baby... Ohhh!
- Adalyn has been doing a Joy School for the past few months and she absolutely loves it. One week she was pretty sick but was determined to go anyway.

- Addie loves to climb, jump, run, swing, and ride her bike. Generally when I say we have to go somewhere she will ask if she can ride her bike there.
- Adalyn is a very sweet big sister. My favorite moments are when (without someone asking her to) Adalyn shares a toy, helps Quincy do something, gets something (like milk) for Quincy, gives her random hugs, sticks up to other kids to save Q, or helps Quincy communicate. I won't deny that there is a hate side to this relationship, but they are generally pretty good friends.
- She still loves to read books but has also discovered how fun telling her own stories can be. Her stories generally revolve around princesses and dragons or witches.
- Adalyn's sense of humor has really developed over the past year (something Devin is most proud of). She loves to get a laugh and will act crazy, say silly words, or change her voice to get one. She also loves changing the words in songs such as "Twinkle, Twinkle little cow."
- For a while Adalyn had some make believe friends that visited us often... Orangie and Barney. Some days I even had to kiss them goodnight or feed them lunch. They don't come around too often anymore but every once in awhile I hear her talking to one of them.
- When Adalyn gets an idea in her head, that is it. She decided 3 months ago that she wanted to be a butterfly for Halloween. I thought for sure she would change her mind before it got here. A month ago I hesitantly bought her a butterfly costume a bit worried that she would still change her mind. But she is persistent and looks forward to being a butterfly. It is this way in most things... once she has made up her mind it is pretty difficult to sway her.
- Some of Adalyn's favorite foods are spaghetti, pizza, Chicken and Stars (when she is sick), freeze dried fruit, apples, grapes, raisins, vanilla ice cream, and everything that isn't good for her.
- Adalyn loves to draw, write out her letters, paint, and play with stickers.
- She loves to wear dresses. Not a day goes by when she isn't asking to wear one of her dresses. Also in case you are wondering what Addie looks like with straight hair, here you go...
- Adalyn is very observant and has a great memory. She is perceptive to little details and seems to remember everything. She is inquisitive and eager to understand the world around her. Here is a small clip of Adalyn "reading" or reciting the story from her memory...
- She is feisty, independent, and determined which is what causes most of our daily battles. But it is also what gives her the gumption to stick up to bullies (protecting her family), fight for what she wants, and stand her ground. I hope that she will continue to develop and fine tune these qualities. In this clip she thinks Uncle Danny is hurting Devin...
Adalyn is definitely "The Princess" of the house... and we wouldn't have it any other way!
