May was another month of the most beautiful weather in St. George. We took every opportunity we could to get out and explore. The girls continued to make friends all while finishing up their online schooling. Here's what we did:
We found out quickly that slushies are a must, especially as it starts to get hot.
Red Hills Desert Garden is a beautiful botanical garden that is fun to walk around...
Tess finishing up her school projects...
I soak in the sun every chance I get...
Coco likes "helping" all the time...
We took the girls to the Anasazi Trail to hike up to the petroglyphs. It was a longer hike than expected and they got pretty hot but we made it and were able to find some pretty cool petroglyphs.
After much debating and researching and looking we finally picked out a patio set for our deck. It is perfect and we can't wait to be out there often.
Devin went with a neighbor to take the girls frog hunting. They were successful and caught a few but a skunk sighting freaked Tess out and ended the trip early. Never in my life did I think those sentences would come out of my mouth.
Sharing doughnuts with neighbors...
We also quickly found out that riding bikes to Dutchman's (nearby gas station) was a big deal. And if you offer to take a few kids you end up with half the neighborhood...
Tess missed out on Kindergarten Graduation because of COVID but her teacher requested graduation pictures of them all and then put them in a video for them. So cute!
Our neighborhood had a Graduation Parade for the seniors who missed their graduation ceremonies because of COVID. It was fun to be out there supporting these kids...
If you can't tell already, we hit the jackpot with the neighborhood we moved into. Bike rides, frog hunts, playdates, slushy runs, and night games are just a few of the things that our kids have been invited to. So fun!
Mother's Day 2020: I feel blessed to be these girl's mom. They each have such unique personalities that I am able to learn from and that help me be a better person. I love them each so much!
We went on a hike in the morning with some new friends, The Capps. It was a great day.
We see some amazing sunsets from our deck!
Shenanigans...
New friends are always the best, especially when you are 2. This is Lauren and she and Coco decided they were best friends from the beginning...
Sometimes you need a 2 year old to help you eat your fish...
S'mores please!
When no one tells you that they will be doing a controlled burn just below your house you kind of freak out when you see this...
Movie night with friends...
Family Game Night...
See that little speck at the top of the tree? Yep that's Addie. She, Avery, and Will climbed that huge tree and gave me a heart attack.
And each of the girls got to stop to see their best friends in Lehi.
Tess and Kassidy
Quincy and Faith
Tess and Millie
Our final year at Sego Lily Elementary is complete! We have loved this school and we are sad to say good-bye!
While the older girls played with friends, Coco and I went shopping...
Lots of driving...
Then we drove even further north to stay the night at Grandma and Grandpa Wayment's. The next day we drove up to Logan, ate ice cream in front of the Logan Temple, and stopped to see Gavin and Becky. Later that day we met Angie at the park to play with cousins. It was such a fun day.
On the way home we stopped at the Beaver Creamery. It was freezing but delicious.
I'm so glad that I was able to take the girls on this trip. It was exhausting for me but such a fun time for the girls and it was good for them to see their friends and cousins again.
We also discovered that we were near the Mountain Meadows Massacre Site. I had just read about this in the book Saints so we stopped to pay tribute. Although this was definitely a horrible thing that happened in the Church's history, we have to remember that these men had suffered a great deal and were in fear for their lives constantly. It does not excuse their actions but it does offer some understanding as to where they were coming from. So sad that this had to take place.
Some new friends invited us to the Virgin River with them. Such a fun spot to cool off on a hot day.
Mmm... soda!
Fire Lake has quickly become one of our favorite places! We feel so lucky to have it so close to us!
Zion National Park is also just 40 minutes away so we decided to go and drive through it a little. The scenic route was closed however (thanks to COVID) so we stopped on the side of the road a couple of times and ended up hiking around a bit. This is such a gorgeous place and we are excited to be so close!
Afterwards we stopped in our favorite little town Springdale to eat at Oscar's and walk around. It started raining/hailing but the girls had a blast messing around in it.
On the way home, we found this "Ghost Town"/petting zoo so we got out and let the girls feed some horses, donkeys, llamas, and pigs.
Cute Friends!
One Sunday we took a picnic to the old Relief Society House to do our Come Follow Me. We couldn't go inside but it was cool to read about the pioneers who lived in this area. We could really feel the spirit as we studied.
May was such a busy month but we sure packed it full of a lot of fun! We have really been loving exploring where we live and enjoying all the time we have spent in the beautiful world around us.
